Zahid qualified in 2001 as a dentist from the University of Kashmir, India. He completed his Diploma in the membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS RCPS) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2006 and passed the International Qualifying Exam (IQE) in 2007.

He has been working for NHS-Tayside since 2007 and as a Specialty dentist in the Dental Hospital since 2010.

He is currently pursuing a part time MSc in quality improvement from the University of Dundee.

Apart from the general dentistry, his areas of particular interest include aesthetic dentistry, and management of complex restorative cases, including crown and bridge work, Endodontics and Surgical dentistry. He also spends one day a week treating the elderly in Royal Victoria Hospital.

Currently involved in clinical teaching of dental students in 3rd year Conservation Clinic, 4th year Conservation Clinic and final year dental students in Outreach Clinic at Kings Cross Hospital.
